Carroll Fulmer Logistics Selects Infinit-I Workforce System for Online Training

Carroll Fulmer Logistics Corporation in Groveland, Florida has partnered with Vertical Alliance Group to provide online training and communication to their drivers via the Infinit-I Workforce System. The system will help them to streamline training, ensure accurate documentation, improve license expiration notifications, and maximize communication efforts across their company.

“Vertical Alliance Group is proud to partner with Carroll Fulmer as their online training provider. We are committed to helping them succeed, and we are glad they were able to attend our Infinit-I Engage Evaluation Program to learn how to maximize their use of the system,” said Brad Pruitt, Vertical Alliance territory manager in Florida. “As we do with all of our clients, we will continue to work with them on a monthly basis to ensure all of their employees get the most out of the online training platform.” One of the features the team at Carroll Fulmer expressed excitement over with the Infinit-I Workforce System was how the short training segments were a big improvement over the other online training platforms they had utilized in the past.

“I like the fact that there are very short training videos,” said Jennifer McDannell, training supervisor at Carroll Fulmer Logistics Corporation. “ training could be up to 32 pages, and if the drivers don’t answer the questions right, could take a driver up to an hour and 15 minutes just to complete one session. That’s just too long in this industry.” Most of the training videos within the Infinit-i Workforce System are less than seven minutes in length. They are designed so drivers can watch a training video from anywhere using any platform with internet access.

This means drivers can quickly complete safety training in between loads or during downtime waiting at a dock. “I liked , but it limited so much that I could do with the drivers. Literally, if they did not have a laptop computer in their truck, I would have to route them into Groveland to train, or have them do it on their home time. I like the fact that I can set-up my own content with the Infinit-I Workforce System, and that drivers can actually access this on very simple tools like smartphones,” McDannell said. Another feature the team at Carroll Fulmer is looking forward to utilizing with the Infinit-I Workforce System is the license expiration notification feature.

The system has the ability to automatically alert drivers and managers of upcoming expiration notices in plenty of time to ensure drivers can update their documents. This feature helps ensure transportation companies never have to pull a driver off of the road due to a paperwork date. “It’s going to help the girls who do the background checks to be able to put whendriver license card, CDL, and medical card expires, so that they get information on that.

That is a god send,” McDannell said. Carroll Fulmer Logistics has over 60 years of experience in the transportation industry and is known for their first-rate performance. Vertical Alliance Group has been providing online solutions for the transportation industry for nearly two decades. She has successfully empowered many “to go over, under, around or through the obstacles on any path and to be courageous in pursuing dreams.”

Conquer Distracted Driving by Becoming an ACE
June 16, 2016| 10 a.m. CST

Terry Mathis

About the Webinar:
Distracted driving is currently one of the major causes of accidents. While most other categories of accidents are decreasing, distracted driving rates remain on the rise. While cell phones are involved in a large percentage, they are not the only contributing factor. Most organizations attempt to address this issue with new policies, training, or a combination. Policies tend to focus on limiting cell usage, which doesn’t address other factors, and training tends to not change habit. ACE (Attention, Control, Eyes on Road) was created to address this challenge.

This presentation by safety, culture and performance improvement expert, Terry L. Mathis, will familiarize you with ACE and how you can use this technique to curtail distractions and ensure road safety while driving. Distracted driving happens to us all, on and off the job. ACE can help to address the three most common types of distractions, and can be used in conjunction with other driving programs.

Session Highlights:
1. The 3 principles of ACE – how it can be internalized and emphasized to apply to every situation
2. The 3 most common types of distractions and how to avoid them
3. Driving with ACE
4 check my reference. Pre-planning to minimize or stop distractions
5. How to train your truck drivers on ACE

Terry L. Mathis is the founder and CEO of ProAct Safety, and author of two books. His most recent is the bestseller, STEPS to Safety Culture Excellence. EHS Today has listed Terry three consecutive times as one of ‘The 50 People Who Most Influenced EHS’. He is a veteran of over 1600 safety, culture and performance improvement projects in 39 countries and has personally advised many of the best in safety in every major industry

Allan Hicks, 2015 ATA Safety Director of the Year

Vertical Alliance Group, is proud to announce Allan Hicks has received the Safety Director of the Year Award from the American Trucking Association (ATA). In addition to being the vice president of safety at B.R. Williams Trucking, Inc., in Oxford, Alabama, Allan also represents Vertical Alliance Group in Alabama and Georgia as a partner selling our Infinit-I Workforce System.

“This is the highest honor you can get within the safety profession. You just look down the list of those individuals who have won it before, it is just a great honor. I’m very humbled,” Allan said as he discussed what winning the award has meant to him. Allan is not a stranger to winning safety awards.

During his tenure as safety director, B.R. Williams has received more than 50 safety awards from ATA, the Alabama Trucking Association, and the Truckload Carriers Association. Hicks was awarded the Safety Professional of the Year award by the Alabama Trucking Association in 2001 and the 2014 Alabama Trucking Professional award.

His company has also won the Liberty Mutual Insurance Excellence Award for Truck Safety in eight consecutive years. His background makes him a safety expert within the trucking industry, and he has advice for safety directors who may just be starting out in their careers.

“Look for all the available tools out there to be used in every aspect of a safety program,” he said. “Start working on culture and then start making everyone aware of how the company feels about safety, and then find ways to be able to hold them accountable. That’s one thing that has really helped us here is being able to acknowledge the accomplishments of the drivers on an annual basis.”

One of the tools that Allan uses is the Infinit-I Workforce Solutions. “Prior to using Infinit-I Workforce System, I was holding quarterly meetings and only got a fraction of our drivers in for safety meetings. It has given me the ability to have training every month and give specific topics that pertain to areas we need training in for particular months,” Allan said.

After seeing the positive changes the Infinit-I Workforce System made at B.R. Williams, Allan wanted to share the tool with others in his home state of Alabama.

Statistics After Utilizing the Infinit-I Workforce System for Training Over a 2 Year Period

Trucking Company Safety Improvements with Infinit-I Workfoce System

“I liked the product so well from using it, it was something I thought could be used by other trucking companies. I wanted to be able to reach out and show other carriers the tools the system offers that are available to not only improve their safety program but to also easily to improve CSA scores,” said Allan as he explained why he decided to partner with Vertical Alliance Group to sell the product in Alabama and Georgia.

One of the things Allan finds the most useful about the system is how easy it is to plan and assign out training. “It’s taken the training aspect and made it a lot easier. I love that I can go in and set up an entire year’s training. Normally, I’ll do a specific theme for the year, and we’ll go in and preassign all of that training. Throughout the year all I have to do is add training for new regulations that may come out. If there is something specific on the training side, we can utilize the custom content portion of the system, too.”

Allan’s selection for this award is not a surprise to those who know him. He has spent a lifetime committed to making the trucking industry safer. “I enjoy keeping trucks safe on the road and saving lives out on the road and being able to get the drivers home. I have a program in place that not only ensures our drivers and employees are safe out there, but so are the other motoring public.

I can remember back several years ago, I didn’t get a driver home. That can really impact how you feel about safety,” Allan said.

The entire staff at Vertical Alliance Group wishes to congratulate Allan on this honor. “He is well deserving of the award, and we couldn’t be prouder of him. Since he came on board as a partner with our company, it has been inspiring watching how he has improved his company with a culture that is truly committed to safety,” said Jay Wommack, president and CEO of Vertical Alliance Group.

Next week is Brake Safety Week across America.  From September 6-12, commercial motor vehicle (CMV) inspectors will conduct brake system inspections (primarily Level IV Inspections) on trucks and buses throughout North America to identify out-of-adjustment brakes and brake-system violations.

To help ensure our clients are prepared for these inspections, Vertical Alliance Group has released a new Brake Safety video.   To make it easy for your drivers to get a quick refresher on best practices, the video is less than 10 minutes in length and discusses several points of inspection for braking systems.

If you are a current user of the Infinit-i Workforce System, the video can be found in the following location in the Infinit-I Workforce System Library:

  • Category: Trucking Industry
  • Module/Tool: Brake Safety
  • Length: 9:49

About Brake Safety Week: Brake Safety Week is part of the Operation Airbrake program sponsored by CVSA in partnership with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Brake-related violations comprise the largest percentage (representing 46.2 percent during Roadcheck 2014) of all out-of-service violations cited during roadside inspections.

Improperly installed or poorly maintained brake systems can reduce the braking capacity and stopping distance of trucks and buses, which poses a serious risk to driver and public safety. Brake inspections conducted during Brake Safety Week include inspection of brake-system components to identify loose or missing parts, air or hydraulic fluid leaks, worn linings, pads, drums or rotors, and other faulty brake-system components. Antilock braking systems (ABS) malfunction indicator lamps also are checked. Inspectors will inspect brake components and measure pushrod stroke when appropriate. Defective or out-of-adjustment brakes will result in the vehicle being placed out of service.

Read more about the inspection procedure. Additional inspections may include some Level I Inspections and, in ten participating jurisdictions, overall vehicle braking efficiency will be tested using performance-based brake testing (PBBT) equipment. These systems include a slow speed roller dynamometer that measure total vehicle weight and total brake force, from which braking efficiency is calculated. The minimum braking efficiency for trucks is 43.5 percent, required by U.S. federal regulation and the CVSA Out-of-Service Criteria.

verologisticsfacebookVertical Alliance Group, Inc. is excited to have Vero Logistics as an attendee at our Infinit-I Engage Evaluation Program this week.  Check out what they wrote about us on their Facebook Page:

“In our continued effort to prioritize safety, one of our senior management members as well as our safety director and driver manager are in Ft. Worth, Texas for a two-day Infinit-I Engage Evaluation Program for a more in-depth view of Infinit-I Workforce System, a product of Vertical Alliance.

“There are many benefits to this program, too many to mention here. But drivers can, from anywhere in the country via cell phones, tablets, laptops, etc…, watch safety videos as well as re-training videos and have proof of doing so (each driver will have their own password) and receive a certificate. “Further we will be able create custom content. So for instance, we have a particular need a customer wants, we will be able to create a video which will UNIFORMLY show all drivers the same exact info. This system is going to go a long way in keeping drivers informed, safe, and make a great company ( if you don’t mind us saying so) even better!
